Selfana is an online marketplace that connects independent buyers and sellers. Users can create marketplace listings, discover products, communicate with other users, place one-time orders, make payments and coordinate product delivery.

Selfana is operated by SELFANA TRUST LIMITED, with registered address at 19 DR WOGU STREET, CHEVY VIEW ESTATE, CHEVRON LEKKI LAGOS.
For the purposes of applicable Nigerian data-protection law, Selfana is the data controller responsible for determining how and why personal information collected through the platform is processed.
Independent sellers may also become separate data controllers when they receive buyer information for order fulfilment, delivery, customer communication, returns or dispute resolution. Sellers must only use buyer information for legitimate marketplace purposes and in accordance with applicable law and Selfana’s policies.

Age Requirements
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Selfana account, publish listings, sell products or enter into marketplace transactions.
Selfana does not knowingly permit children under 18 to create accounts or knowingly collect their personal information.
Where we discover that an account belongs to a person under 18, we may suspend or delete the account and take reasonable steps to remove the associated information, subject to any legal retention requirements.

Authorised Selfana personnel may access relevant communications where reasonably necessary to: investigate fraud, respond to complaints, resolve payment or delivery disputes, review reported content, prevent harassment or abuse, enforce Selfana’s Terms and marketplace policies, protect users, and comply with legal obligations.
4.7 Information submitted to support
When you contact our support or privacy team, we may request information needed to identify your account, verify ownership, investigate your complaint, recover your account, review a blocked or restricted account, process a refund or dispute, respond to a privacy request, or prevent unauthorised access or deletion.
Do not send unnecessary identity documents, passwords, card PINs, one-time passwords or other sensitive information to Selfana support.

Required and Optional Information
Certain information is required to create and secure a Selfana account or complete a transaction. Other information is optional.
You may be able to browse marketplace listings without creating an account. However, some features may require registration or verification, including: publishing a product, creating a storefront, contacting another user, viewing protected contact information, placing an order, receiving payments, arranging delivery, accessing seller tools, submitting certain claims, or selling in restricted or higher-risk categories.
Where information is optional, refusing to provide it will generally only affect the feature that requires that information.

Selfana is a public marketplace. Information you include in a listing, profile or storefront may be accessible to other users, search engines or the public.

CRITICAL SECURITY DIRECTIVE - DO NOT PUBLISH
Do not publish the following in a listing, public profile, review or comment: Passwords, One-time passwords, Bank-login credentials, Full payment-card information, Bank Verification Number (BVN), Private identity documents, Personal Identification Number (PIN), Exact residential address, Sensitive financial information, Confidential business information, or Information belonging to another person without permission. Selfana may remove or restrict content that exposes sensitive information or creates a security risk.

Information Received from Third Parties
7.1 Third-party login services
Where you choose to register or sign in through a third-party login provider, we may receive information authorised by you.
Sign in with Apple: Apple account identifier, Name, Email address, Private relay email address where you use Hide My Email

We process information received from login providers in accordance with this Privacy Policy. You may manage or revoke third-party login permissions through the relevant provider’s account settings.

Delivery, logistics or product-inspection providers may provide us with: delivery status, delivery date, delivery evidence, recipient confirmation, inspection outcome, product-condition information, failed-delivery information, and communications concerning fulfilment.
7.4 Verification and fraud-prevention providers
Verification providers may provide Selfana with: identity-verification outcome, document-authenticity result, name-match result, address-verification result, fraud or security indicator, business-verification status, and bank-account ownership result.
Where facial verification is used, Selfana will provide an appropriate notice explaining the purpose of the verification and the relevant processing arrangements.
7.5 Other users
Another Selfana user may provide information about you when: placing an order, entering recipient details, reporting your account, reporting a listing, submitting a review, filing a complaint, opening a dispute, referring you to Selfana, or communicating with support. We may review the information and contact you where appropriate.

8.3 Location information
We may process: approximate location derived from your IP address, location entered manually by you, delivery location, product location, and precise device location where you have granted permission.
Precise location may be used for features such as: nearby products, product location, delivery coordination, inspection arrangements, address verification, and fraud prevention.
You may deny or withdraw location permission through your device settings. Where possible, Selfana may allow you to enter an address or location manually.

Camera, Photo Library and Device Permissions
Selfana will request device permission before accessing protected device features.
Where supported by your device, Selfana will use a photo picker that allows you to select specific images instead of granting unrestricted access to your entire photo library.
You may withdraw device permissions through your device settings. Disabling a permission may prevent the related feature from working but should not prevent you from using unrelated Selfana features.
Selfana may request access to your camera or selected photographs so that you can:

Depending on the processing activity, Selfana may rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:
Contract: Necessary to create & operate account, provide marketplace services, publish listings, process orders, facilitate payments, coordinate delivery, provide support, and perform Terms of Service.
Consent: Optional device permissions, precise location, certain cookies, marketing communications, optional analytics/tracking. Consent can be withdrawn anytime.
Legal obligation: Compliance with applicable laws, court orders, regulatory requirements, tax and accounting obligations, lawful government requests, fraud prevention.
Vital interests & Public interest: Protecting a person's life, safety or vital interests, or for another purpose permitted by law.

Payments and Financial Information
Selfana uses authorised payment providers to process marketplace payments.
Payment-card information may be entered directly into a payment provider’s secure payment interface. Selfana generally receives transaction confirmation and limited payment metadata rather than complete card credentials.
We may retain payment and transaction information to: confirm purchases, process settlements, process refunds, investigate fraud, respond to chargebacks, resolve buyer and seller disputes, maintain accounting records, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
SECURITY NOTICE
Never disclose your card PIN, banking password or one-time password to a Selfana seller, buyer or support representative.

User-Generated Content and Marketplace Moderation
Selfana allows users to submit listings, images, reviews, comments, messages, reports and other content.
We use reasonable automated and manual safeguards to prevent objectionable, abusive, fraudulent or unlawful content.
Users can report listings, users, comments or other content through the reporting feature available in Selfana. Reports may include: reported account, reported content/listing, report category, supporting comment, date/time, and relevant communication information.
Our moderation team aims to review urgent reports promptly and may remove objectionable content or restrict an offending user where appropriate.

Automated Processing and Manual Review
Selfana may use automated systems to identify: prohibited words, suspicious transactions, fraudulent behaviour, spam, duplicate accounts, manipulated listings, unusual login activity, potential policy violations, and identity-document concerns.
Automated systems may flag content or accounts for investigation.
Where a significant decision concerning your account is based primarily on automated processing, you may contact us to request an explanation, provide additional information, object to the decision, or request review by an authorised person.

16.1 Buyers and sellers
Shared between buyers and sellers to facilitate product enquiries, communication, order processing, payment confirmation, delivery, inspection, returns, refunds, and dispute resolution. Shared data includes name, telephone number, order info, delivery address/instructions, transaction status, and relevant messages. Users must not use marketplace info for unrelated marketing or harassment.
16.2 Payment providers
Shared with payment providers to process payments, confirm transactions, settle sellers, process refunds, prevent fraud, and manage disputes/chargebacks.
16.3 Delivery and inspection partners
We may share contact details, delivery address, product info, order details, delivery instructions, and inspection requirements. This info must only be used to complete the relevant service.
16.4 Identity-verification and fraud-prevention providers
Shared with providers that help confirm identities, verify documents, verify businesses, verify bank accounts, detect fraud, and assess risk.
16.5 Technology and operational providers
Includes providers supporting cloud hosting, data storage, database management, cybersecurity, email/SMS/push notifications, customer support, analytics, error monitoring, maintenance, content moderation, and fraud prevention. They may only process info according to our instructions.
16.6 - 16.8 Professional advisers, Authorities & Corporate transactions
Shared with lawyers, accountants, auditors, insurers, and compliance advisers. Disclosed to government/public authorities where required by law, court order, or to prevent crime. Transferred as part of corporate transactions (mergers/acquisitions) under equal protection standards.

Analytics, Advertising and Tracking
Selfana may use analytics tools to understand app usage, website usage, marketplace performance, technical errors, feature engagement, and marketing effectiveness.
Where Selfana uses technology that tracks your activity across apps or websites owned by other companies, we will request the permission required by your device or applicable law before carrying out that tracking.
You are not required to permit optional tracking to access Selfana’s core marketplace functionality. You may manage tracking permissions through your device settings.

International Data Transfers
Some Selfana service providers may store or process personal information outside Nigeria.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, Selfana will take reasonable steps to ensure that: the transfer has a lawful basis, the recipient protects the information, appropriate contractual safeguards are used, the information is processed only for authorised purposes, and applicable Nigerian data-transfer requirements are followed.
We will not knowingly transfer personal information to a recipient that provides inadequate protection without implementing appropriate safeguards.

Selfana uses reasonable technical, administrative and organisational safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorised access, unlawful processing, loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorised disclosure, or accidental destruction.
Safeguards include: TLS encryption in transit, encryption of appropriate information at rest, password hashing, authentication controls, access restrictions, administrative permissions, security monitoring, activity logging, infrastructure reviews, fraud-detection systems, incident-response procedures, and staff confidentiality obligations.
Only authorised personnel and service providers with a legitimate need should have access to personal information.
No online system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account password, login code and payment credentials confidential.

Personal-Data Breaches
Where a personal-data breach is likely to create a risk to the rights or freedoms of affected individuals, Selfana will take appropriate steps to: investigate the breach, limit its impact, protect affected accounts, preserve relevant evidence, correct the underlying security issue, notify the competent authority where legally required, and notify affected users where legally required.
Any notification may explain: what happened, what information was affected, what Selfana is doing, what the affected user should do, and how to obtain assistance.

Data Retention
Selfana retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Generally: Account info is retained while active; active listings while published; deleted/expired listings temporarily for fraud prevention & policy enforcement; messages for support & safety; reports/moderation records to enforce policies; transaction/payment/tax records for periods required by law; verification info for security & compliance.
After account deletion, Selfana may retain limited information where necessary to complete existing transactions, process refunds, respond to chargebacks, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce restrictions, comply with tax/accounting laws, respond to lawful requests, or defend legal claims.
When information is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or irreversibly anonymised.

Deletion Verification & Effect
Before completing deletion, Selfana may require the user to sign in again, confirm the request, enter a verification code, or complete another verification step. Deleting an account results in the permanent deletion or anonymisation of profile info, storefront info, active listings, listing photos/videos, reviews, comments, saved preferences, and marketing data.

Withdrawing Consent and Managing Choices

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place lawfully before the withdrawal.
Disabling an optional permission will not normally prevent access to unrelated marketplace functionality.

Essential service communications: Selfana may send essential notifications concerning account activity, security, orders, payments, refunds, delivery, messages, reports, disputes, policy changes, and restrictions.
